MOVIEBUFF's FIRSTCLAP - SHORT FILM CONTEST

WHEN IS THE CONTEST?

The Contest shall commence from 8.00 AM, 12th December 2016 and shall be open for registration till midnight, 10th February 2017.  All entries must be submitted before the deadline of midnight, 10th February 2017.

PRIZES

The top-three films will be awarded cash prizes. These cash prizes will be jointly sponsored by Moviebuff and 2D Entertainment.

Winner: 3,00,000
First runner-up: 2,00,000
Second runner-up: 1,00,000

All three winners will be given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to narrate a script to Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. Additionally, key crew members of the three winning teams (Director, Cinematographer, Editor) will be given an opportunity to intern at 2D Entertainment.

ALL ABOUT YOUR FILM

Your short film (“Film”) shall be in accordance with the following specifications. Any Film not in consonance with the T&C shall not be considered by Moviebuff.

Only one registration and uploading of one Film is permitted per Contestant.

The Film shall be in Tamil language.

The Film shall not exceed 3:15 minutes (three minutes and fifteen seconds) in length (including titles and credits). The submitted film should not be published /showcased in any other platform/contest.

Ensure to give your film a title and submit/register the same with Moviebuff. Moviebuff reserves the right to reject any title submitted by you without assigning any reason. Necessary approval(s), if any, from the authorities concerned, at any stage of the Contest for Your Film needs to be obtained by you at your cost.

The Film should be in the following file formats: Formats

For YouTube Upload:
Video: MP4 H.264
Audio: AAC Audio
Or any other format supported by YouTube

For Digital Theatrical Playback:

Video Format

The Frame rate should be 24fps.

Frame size: 1920*808 (letterboxed with 136 pixels of black on top and bottom for a 2.35:1 Scope Aspect Ratio).

In case of the content being shot on flat with 1.77 / 1.85:1 then the content may have to be in 1920*1080 full range without any letterboxing of black on top and bottom.

The above content can be given on a Panasonic D5 tape or a 10 bit DPX Sequential file.

For DI movies, submissions will be accepted in the format mentioned below.

The output can be a 10bit DPX / 16bit TIFF or a 12 bit J2C Sequential file.

Do ensure all of your content reaches us only in a Linear file format as none of the DI labs work on LOG based workflows any more.

You can opt for a DCI colour space on a XYZ or a P3 format whichever the DI setup can accommodate for viewing of content during your grade.

Workflows in any DI lab would be only Linear without LUT or can also be on ACES depending on your content and its recommendations (RED / ARRI or Sony D-65/55).

In case for some reason if your workflow is in LOG, do ensure the DI lab also gives the LUT along with the DPX files.

Audio Format

The Frame rate should be 24fps

5.1 individual mono Wave files (from authorized studios only)

7.1 same as above

Your source to Qube Hard Drive needs to be either in EXT2 or EXT3 File Formats only.
